What a beautiful October week! It was a busy one, so I didn’t have as much time to write here at The Right Fits as I would have liked.
But as always, I’m here with my weekly recap and I am linking up again with Jess at Jess Runs ATL (who is running the Richmond Marathon in 3 weeks!) Join our link-up. Details below.
Monday: Easy 4 mile run with Matilda after work. So dark….
Tuesday: 7 morning miles with Christie. By the way, have you tried this cucumber lime Gatorade? I think I’ve mentioned it on here before. It’s definitely my favorite, but its really hard to find in Minneapolis. A few people on Instagram told me I could find it at the Richfield or the Lake Street Target. Definitely checking that out, and its so good. Not too sweet but so refreshing.
Tuesday was Dustin and my 8 year wedding anniversary. We celebrated with dinner at the Bachelor Farmer and by watching our wedding video (Brides- my one wedding tip to you is to have a videographer. Wedding pictures are great, but I LOVE watching the video at least once a year. Definitely worth the $$).
We also re-created one of our engagement photos. We had them taken in our neighborhood in 2008, so its easy to go back to the same places now and try to pose for the same corny picture 🙂 And yes, Dustin still has that SAME sweater!
Wednesday: Complete rest. We had our next-door neighbors over for a happy hour. I mentioned that my neighbor ran Twin Cities this year so we were celebrating another marathon finish for him. We also hadn’t had them over since we remodeled our kitchen.
Thursday: 5:30 am [solidcore] class. The class is 50 minutes long, so I rushed home and squeezed in a 3 mile run with Matilda and was done a little after 7 am. I was really proud of myself for doing so much all before work!
After work, we had my mother-in-law and Dustin’s stepdad over to see the remodel and then we went to Broder’s. I hadn’t been there in quite some time and its just as popular as ever! They don’t take reservations and we had to wait quite a while for a table.
Friday: 8 morning miles with Christie again! I finally broke out my headlamp and it definitely helped. She was fitting in a 17 mile run but was happy to have company for some of it.
Saturday: 13.1 miles with my friend Vicki! We raced the Hot Cider Hustle Half Marathon. It was so fun! She had sent me a message a while ago to see if I was interested in this race and I suggested that we run it together. Her previous half PR was around 2:04 and she was looking to break 2 hours. She’s in the greatest running shape of her life right now, so this was a perfect opportunity for her to do so…and a fun opportunity for me to pace again.
I’ll share more on the race in a separate post.
After the half, Dustin, Matilda, and I drove to Taylors Falls to hike around a bit and enjoy the gorgeous fall day.
It was such a lovely day.
After about an hour or so on the trails, we left the park and went to the Franconia Sculpture Park which is always interesting.
Have you been there? I haven’t been in a few years and so much of the artwork was totally new.
Matilda was more into sniffing for field mice than the artwork. So uncultured, Matilda…
Sunday: I took an A10 class at Alchemy– this class included about 15-20 minutes of yoga and dynamic warmup, then 10 minutes of high intensity strength (kind of reminds me of crossfit) and then about 15 minutes of yoga/cool-down. No running today as I’m having some pain under my big toe; I think it might just be a bruise from wearing heels for too long that squished my toe into a bad position, but its definitely bothering me. I’m icing it now and probably won’t run tomorrow either. If it doesn’t feel better, I will definitely get it checked out. And no heels anymore!
Summary: 2 strength classes – [solidcore] and A10 at Alchemy. About 35 miles of running.
That’s all for me this week. How was your week of training and life? Please share, either via our link-up or in the comments, I’d love to hear from you!
Congrats on yet another amazing race as a pacer 🙂
Wished I had someone like you close by!
I just looked at your old post on the kitchen remodel too and it looks gorgeous!!!!!
I wish we had that kind of room but we also did our complete kitchen and bathroom remodel when we moved in too-
I love the fact that your house was built a long time ago but with each owner, things get remodeled/added to make the house more and more comfortable.
Thank you Eri! I really enjoyed pacing a friend to hit a goal…very rewarding! Thank you for the kind words on our kitchen remodel! It was a long process but well worth it 🙂 I too love the history of the house and would love to find pictures of what it looked like back in 1920! Apparently people host “century parties” for their house, so in 2020, I plan to have a BIG party! Edited to add- I just double-checked our deed and our house was actually built in 1929. I guess that party is farther away than I thought… Read more »
Wow but even then, that would be an amazing and fun party to host! It’s great to see how people take care of an older house with so much love and care- that it would be able to house a family for a century! Sooooo cool.
I hope you build many many memories with the house!
Thanks 🙂
Congrats on another successful race! I also love the name of that half marathon – so cute and perfect for fall!
Happy Anniversary! I love that you re-created your engagement photos. Such a cute and unique idea.
Hot Cider Hustle 🙂 The hot cider actually tasted really good at the finish.
I always love the recreation of photos…fun to see how people change.

Looks like a busy week, I love the photo recreation!
Thanks Beth, it’s fun to see how we’ve changed!
