Another week of Grandma's Marathon training complete! This week including a short trip to visit my younger sister in Kansas City to meet my new nephew. I had a great time exploring Kansas City for the first time. I especially loved having the opportunity to spend time with Laurie in her first few months as a new mom. Let me back up a bit and tell you how the week went with Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: The Ron Daws 25k
This past Saturday, I ran the Ron Daws 25k. This was my 3rd year running this race. I ran it in 2013 as a training run for the Newport Marathon and I ran it in 2014 as a training run for the Flying Pig Marathon. Start Line: The race starts at 8 am at a church parking lot in Hopkins. There is plenty of parking at the church as well as bathrooms and a warm place to wait. We arrived around 7:30 Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Double Runs?!?
You read that title correctly. Double runs. Scary! I am sure some of you think that double runs are the most ridiculous thing ever, especially for a girl with a marathon PR of 3:54. I mean, what possible reasons would there be for a middle-of-the-pack runner like me to do two runs a day? I had the same questions when my coach Antonio put them on my schedule. Weekly Recap: What’s My Next Marathon?
As you may have guessed from all these travel posts (The Tsukiji Fish Market, Exploring Shibuya, Exploring Hiroshima, Exploring Kyoto Part 1 and Part 2) I didn't do a whole lot of running on our trip to Japan- well, other than the 42 kilometers I ran during the marathon (and a few shakeout runs beforehand). But AFTER the Tokyo Marathon, I took a full week off of working out. I ate what I Continue Reading
