Hi there! I'm here with my weekly recap; I'm still linking up with Jess from Jess Runs ATL. Join us- details below! So, this week was good because I'm back to running. After a week without it, it felt great to get back to normal. My normal. :) Monday: Easy 4 miles after work around 9:20 min/mile. Yay for running and fall weather! Tuesday: Easy 6 miles before work around 9:20 min/mile. Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: A Hot Mess…
This past week was a bit of a bust...Every training cycle has its highs and lows. I'd classify this past week as a "low." I didn't have any runs where I felt strong and my paces were so far off of where they should be. I know that it was the heat and humidity; of course it was...But it was still hard. I still love running...I just am feeling a little disheartened with my runs this Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Training for the Big Cottonwood Marathon!
Yes, it's official! I registered for the Big Cottonwood Marathon on September 10th. Boston registration opens on September 12, so this will be my 'last chance marathon.' It starts at altitude, but it has a LOT of downhill. My coach said I'll need to do some hard training on the downhill to prepare my quads. But look at those stats- 25% of runners qualify for Boston at Big Cottonwood. I like Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Three Weeks Until the London Marathon!
Three weeks until the London Marathon! This will be my 3rd international marathon (Berlin, Tokyo, now London), my 4th World Major (Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, London) and my 22nd marathon overall! I'm even more excited as my running is starting to feel back to normal. It definitely has not been as intense as it was for the Phoenix Marathon, but at least I'm training again. My new goal for the Continue Reading
Six Weeks Until the London Marathon & The Unveiling of The Mural!
As I shared in last week's recap, I have been sidelined a bit by injury but am still feeling hopeful for the London Marathon in 6 weeks. I am fortunate that my injury is pretty minor; just a level 1 stress "reaction", which is basically a bruised bone, not a fracture. The recovery is usually fast; I took this entire week off of running and am feeling back to 100%! I spent the past week Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: The Things You Can’t Control.
Here I am, one week out for the Phoenix Marathon. My goal race. So, one week before the marathon, you're supposed to relax, enjoy the taper, try not to stress, stick to your normal routine... This week was basically the opposite of that. No routine. Lots of stress. Not a lot of relaxing. We had to be out of our house to have our floors refinished. (They look fantastic, btw!). We spent Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Five Weeks Until the Phoenix Marathon
Starting off this post with a gratuitous picture of Matilda the vizsla. You guys said you wanted more, right? Actually, thanks for all your comments on my naysayers post. I am glad that there are people who find value here! And I definitely don't want to discourage commenters from sharing their opinions- I do welcome a 'healthy' debate, I swear. But it felt good to put it all out there and Continue Reading
