It's time for a light and random post! I recently read Erin’s list of 101 things. She is such an inspiring athlete and I enjoyed learning more about her in that fun little post. I thought I’d put together my own list. I couldn’t come up with 101 things, so I went with 33 things since this is my 33rd year of life. Feel free to link up with a list of your own- perhaps with as many things as you Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Two Weeks Until the Tokyo Marathon
The countdown is on! Only 10 days until we head to Japan and 14 days until the Tokyo Marathon. Here's how my training went down this past week: Monday: 1 mile repeats. I did this workout on the treadmill as it was quite cold and slippery outside. 2 mile warmup, 4 x 1 mile on, 2 minute recovery between miles, 2 mile cooldown. The miles were at a 7:45 pace which was supposed to feel easy. It Continue Reading
Fitness Fashion Friday: The Athleta Reflective Running Start Jacket
I had been eying the Athleta Reflective Running Start Jacket for months, so I was so happy when it finally went on sale! The full price tag of $298 was a bit high for me, but you can snatch one up now for just $119 here for the black version, or $179 for the silver version. The reviews I read online said that the silver one is more reflective than the black, but that the black one still works Continue Reading
Guest Fits: Trail Running in Sedona, AZ
This is a long overdue (and picture heavy) guest post that I've owed Jessie so I'll get right down to it. While Jessie was in Singapore, I went to visit my family in Fountain Hills, AZ where my Mom and her husband go in the winter for a little pre-Christmas Christmas. Seeing as I've never spent much time in Arizona, I thought I'd take a little time before my brother and his family got in from Continue Reading
Week 10 of Training for the Tokyo Marathon & Sound Probiotics
Remember this post, when I first announced that I would be running the Tokyo Marathon? It was a week before the Outer Banks Marathon. It seems like ages ago! On November 9th, I ran the Outer Banks Marathon after which I took 2 weeks off from training. Then I dove right back in to preparing for the Tokyo Marathon. Now I am on week 10 of training with only 3 weeks left to go! Here's how Continue Reading
Weekly Recap & RockTape for IT Band Pain
Happy Sunday! I'm here with my normal weekly recap of training for the Tokyo Marathon. This was a big week for me, though I'm not in the taper quite yet. In the past, I would taper for three weeks, but my running coach is having me taper for only two weeks. I have a cutback week next week in mileage and then one more big week before a 2-week taper. I'm not sure how I feel about a 2-week taper, but Continue Reading
Fits Do Gear Reviews: The Brooks Ravenna 6
I have been a Brooks girl since I started running long distances. Occasionally, I have tried other brands, but why fix what's not broken right? Those other shoes never worked out for me, for a variety of reasons. I always find my way back to the Brooks. For most of my 17 marathons, I wore the Brooks Adrenaline, until a physical therapist told me I probably didn't need quite that much Continue Reading
