A lot of marathon training programs are 18 weeks long, so I figured now is the time to start my training and countdown to Boston! I'm back to working with my coach Antonio and I'm finally over that horrible virus of the past two weeks. Now it's time to work! I'm still hosting my weekly link-up with Jess at Jess Runs ATL. Be sure to join us to share your weekly recap! Details at the bottom of Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Winter has arrived.
(The above mural is located downtown Minneapolis close to FlyFeet Running. The times do seem to be a-changin'...as well as the seasons.) Monday: 7.4 miles after work, 9 min/mile pace. It was dark, but I was still in shorts! Beautiful night. Tuesday: 5.4 miles with Tilda before work, 9 min/mile pace. Wednesday: FlyFeet Running with my friend Christie at 5:30 am. Fit Do Race Reviews: The Big Cottonwood Marathon
Marathon #24- complete! On Saturday, September 10th, I crossed my 24th marathon finish line at the Big Cottonwood Marathon. I ran this race as my last chance BQ (Boston Qualifier). I had a qualifying time from the Phoenix Marathon this past February, but 3:39:26 (or 34 seconds under the qualifying time) would not historically be enough for me to actually get into the race. Since Dustin Continue Reading
Bring on the Taper for the Big Cottonwood Marathon!
The Big Cottonwood marathon is two weeks away! It’s TAPER TIME! What does that mean? After several months of hard work, the taper is the weeks before a key race where you cut back your mileage and let your muscles repair. Your body recovers from all the hard work you have been putting it through during training. You focus on replenishing all your glycogen stores in preparation for race day. Continue Reading

I can’t believe I’m heading into my last big week of training. So Continue Reading
Weekly Recap & Linking Up With the Jess’s!
I love sharing my weekly recaps of training here on the blog and a lot of you do the same on your blogs! I feel like it keeps me accountable and is a helpful journal of sorts to use when reflecting on a training season. I hope that the recaps are helpful to any readers who are also training for a race and find value in other athlete's training plans, challenges, and (hopefully) successes! I have Continue Reading
Friday Five Favorites: Reasons to Love the Track!
Today's Friday Five Favorites is all about the TRACK. Marathon training is about endurance, but speed training is still an important component of a successful plan. Historically, I have usually done my workouts on the same trails on which I do my long runs. But more recently, I have headed to a local track for my shorter speed sessions. And guess what- I'm loving it! There are so many Continue Reading
