Guest Post: Key West Half Marathon Review

January 26, 2017 By Jessie Benson 2 Comments

As some of you may know, I have four sisters, most of whom love to run just as much as me. My sister Erin, who I paced for the Twin Cities Marathon in 2016 (this post) also recently turned 40. We celebrated with all the sisters (and husbands) in Napa this past August (this post & this post) but 40 is a monumental birthday so Erin kept the celebration going! She went to Key West to run a half Continue Reading

She runs with the Fox River Trail Runners run club and appreciates how great running friends are! She's here to share the details of a recent baby shower that she hosted for one of those run club friends. Hope you find this helpful for any showers you might Continue Reading

Guest Post: Running in the Democratic Republic of Congo

February 12, 2016 By Jessie Benson Leave a Comment

I have an awesome guest post today by my friend Betsy from the Calhoun Beach Running Club (who also did this guest post.) She recently traveled to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and is here to share her experience running there. Here is her story! It's amazing the kinds of connections runners forge over the miles of marathon training, and the places those connections will take Continue Reading

Guest Post: An Injury-Prone Runner’s Path to a Strong Marathon

December 8, 2015 By Jessie Benson 4 Comments

We runners face a multitude of challenges along each of our running journeys- some nutritional, some physical, some mental. Each challenge can be incredibly frustrating- I know.  My running club friend Betsy considers herself to be “injury-prone” and has had her own set of challenges, but she recently set a HUGE PR at the Twin Cities Marathon in 2015. She graciously offered to share her running Continue Reading

Guest Post: Laura on Marathons and Time Management

November 25, 2015 By Jessie Benson 7 Comments

"I'm so busy." We all say it. When someone asks how you're doing, answering "I'm so busy" is the new "I'm doing well." We're all busy. However, sometimes you talk to someone and you realize they are actually really busy and then you wonder how they get it all done. I'm talking about the kind of person who is able to successfully train for a marathon while working night shifts and super Continue Reading

Fits Do Product Reviews: Joovy Zoom360 Jogging Stroller

October 21, 2015 By Jessie Benson Leave a Comment

My sister Laurie wrote this post to share her review of her Joovy Zoom360 Jogging Stroller- I hope you find this useful! Guest Post/Fits Do Product Review: Joovy Zoom360 Jogging Stroller Even before I was pregnant, I knew that I would want a jogging stroller. I think that any “mother runner” #BAMR or “father runner” (is that a thing?) would want one. So true to form, my husband and I started Continue Reading

Guest Post: My First Marathon Experience by Eric Roling

October 12, 2015 By Jessie Benson 5 Comments

Last weekend, I was a happy spectator for the Twin Cities Marathon. Today, I'd like to share the story of Eric Roling, who was a happy runner at the Twin Cities Marathon last weekend. I met Eric through my blog and have been excited to follow his journey a bit as he prepared for his first marathon. I thought you might enjoy hearing a bit more about it. By Eric Roling: On Sunday, I Continue Reading

Ruth and Matilda have been dying to share some exc Ruth and Matilda have been dying to share some exciting news- we are moving to London!

- Dustin was offered a really great opportunity through the same company to take on a new role in London.
- My company approved a transfer for me to our London office- same job for me (fun new office location!)
- I’ll be localized, Dustin will be an expat.
- The move has been in the works for awhile, but UK immigration was slow with visa processing due to Covid, staffing shortages, the Ukrainian war refugee crisis, etc. but we now have our visas so things are moving quickly- tentative move date is July 7!
- Though the delay was frustrating at first, I think it was meant to be, as it allowed me to be in the US for my mom’s last days and then her funeral. 😕
- We will be renting a flat in the city of London. Visitors welcome!
- Ruth & Matilda are coming with. We wouldn’t go if they couldn’t join! Happy to share details on how they are getting there, but Dustin’s firm set up us with an amazing agency that handles it all, @worldcarepet
- Some good friends are hosting a goodbye party/open house on June 25th. Text me for details, I’d love to see you before we leave. All are invited! 🇬🇧

Losing a parent is not easy and I question if it w Losing a parent is not easy and I question if it will ever even feel…a little less hard. But I am so glad that I have these wonderful people to miss her with…♥️
As I process losing my mom this past weekend, ther As I process losing my mom this past weekend, there are a lot of tears (and even some hyperventilating- didn’t know that was a thing 🫤) but these throwback photos of her in dresses she sewed herself (including her wedding dress!) bring me so much joy. I may not have inherited her skills but I hope I inherited some of her amazing style (& love of bright colors!) 😊
My sister Erin and I (+ our spouses) spent the wee My sister Erin and I (+ our spouses) spent the weekend in Memphis for my cousin Elaine’s wedding; the circumstances weren’t great as to why it was only us as my mom has been in the hospital with pneumonia (+ other challenges) for the past 14 days, so the rest of my family couldn’t make it (it’s my mom’s sister’s daughter who got married & I know she would have really wanted to be there.) Yet my dad encouraged us to attend to represent the family so we made the most of it; here are a handful of highlights to share. 💕. #memphis #wedding #emergebuildingwedding #Tennessee
Just breaking my social media hiatus to announce m Just breaking my social media hiatus to announce my social media hiatus 🤣 Makes total sense, right? Did anyone even notice? 🦗 But seriously I don’t want anyone to think I’m ignoring them, just challenging myself to break the addiction to scrolling for a bit, i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, & Strava. Still blogging a little (wrote a Boston recap, link in profile) but please text or email me with the latest and greatest. Let’s see how long I last 🫣

I finished marathon #39. It was a rough day for me I finished marathon #39. It was a rough day for me, one of my slowest in a long time and I don’t know why but I do know I’m taking a break until fall (this was my 5th in 10 months.) I know I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to run this race but I’m struggling to find the positives. I guess the DPM (dogs per mile) was very high 🙂

Fingers crossed🤞 that I avoid all the germs🦠 that seem to be going around these days…
