Fit Tip Friday: Top 5 Ways That Runners Can Benefit From Kettlebell Training

November 14, 2014 By Jessie Benson 4 Comments

I am a big fan of kettlebell workouts. In my weekly recaps, you will usually see a strength training class that incorporates kettlebells. I can tell you again and again that I think kettlebells are a great workout, but instead I recruited an expert to explain it to you! My friend (and certified kettlebell instructor and distance runner) Ericka Darst is here to share with you 5 ways that runners Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: 5 Minnesota Men Who Blog About Running.

November 12, 2014 By Jessie Benson 10 Comments

add something here..

Last August, I was honored to be featured in Minneapolis Running’s post about "5 Other Minnesota Running Blogs You Should Check Out." There were a lot of really great bloggers in that post that you should definitely check out, but I did notice that all 5 blogs featured female writers. I thought it would a fun follow-up to introduce you to "5 Minnesota Men Who Blog About Running.” (whew, that was Continue Reading

Tilda Tuesday: Another Flashback to the Puppy Days.

November 11, 2014 By Jessie Benson 5 Comments

I know that there are some of you that only stop by for Tilda Tuesdays. You aren't coming here for running advice; instead you are stopping by for a weekly dose of vizsla cuteness! Since we are traveling, I didn't have a lot of time to write a post. In fact, my creativity is pretty low, and I couldn't think of anything fun to share about vizslas or dogs this week. Instead, I thought I'd leave Continue Reading

Fits Do Race Reviews: The Outer Banks Marathon

November 10, 2014 By Jessie Benson 28 Comments

Yesterday I ran the Outer Banks Marathon. It was a beautiful point-to-point course that started in historic Kitty Hawk.  It's advertised as mostly flat, with two "significant" points of elevation. The first was in the Nags Head Woods Preserve around mile 12 and the second was crossing the  Washington-Baum Bridge leading to Roanoke Island at mile 23. Let me start at the beginning. Travel: At Continue Reading

Fit Tip Friday: Why Runners Should Try a Barre Class

November 7, 2014 By Jessie Benson 19 Comments

If you have been reading the Right Fits for awhile, you know that I'm a fan of barre classes. I think they are a great workout for both runners and non-runners a like. Yet there are a lot of reasons why you should try a barre class if you are a runner. With their focus on strengthening core, butt, and thighs, barre classes  might just be what the doctor ordered to prevent running injuries. In Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: Marathon Packing List

November 6, 2014 By Jessie Benson 10 Comments

I have started getting my things together for our trip to North Carolina for the Outer Banks Marathon. I am always worried that I'll forget something, so I put together a destination marathon packing list (though it could work for any distance race). This is my list for the OBX marathon, but if you were doing a colder race, you would need to pack much warmer clothes. In your carry-on Continue Reading

Tilda Tuesday: Gear for Running in the Dark…for Dogs!

November 4, 2014 By Jessie Benson 3 Comments

A few weeks ago, I shared a post with tips and gear for running in the dark. Those tips are even more important now that we have crossed into Daylight Savings Time. There will be a lot of dark running in our near future! One of my safety tips for running in the dark is actually running with my dog. Now, if you've met Matilda, you know that she is not very intimidating. If fact, she's kind of a Continue Reading

Thank you for stopping by!

This is my blog about finding The Right "Fit." I'm an avid runner, marathon enthusiast, and fitness experimentalist who uses my little space of the internet to share my passion for and experiences with running and fitness (...and a little about fashion.)

I write mostly about running and my quest to run a marathon in every state and every continent. But you'll also find some information about different fitness classes in the Twin Cities and more.
