It's time for my weekly recap of training for Grandma's Marathon 2016! It was a big week in mileage, but still lots of fun. Here's how it all went down: Monday: Easy 5.5 miles with my new running partner Nordica. She had run 22 miles the day before, so she only wanted to do 5.5. After we split, I grabbed Matilda and we did another 2 miles for 7.5 miles total. I had a double run on the schedule, Continue Reading
Weekly Recap and Lots of Vizsla Pictures!
Last week was a big week of training for Grandma's Marathon 2016! Here's how it went: Monday: Morning run: 2 mile warm-up, 8x300m sprints with 90 second recovery, 2 mile cool down. I was supposed to do the 300m sprints at a 6:55 pace. Considering my goal for the TC 1 Mile was a 6:30 min/mile and 300m is much shorter than a mile, this seemed doable, but at 6 am, it felt pretty hard and I often Continue Reading
I’m Running Grandma’s Marathon 2016!
I am running another marathon in 6 weeks! In 2015, I ran three marathons- the Tokyo Marathon, Grandma’s Marathon, and the Richmond Marathon, in 3:54, 3:42, and 3:40 respectively. After coming very close to qualifying for Boston at Richmond, I ramped back up and raced the Phoenix Marathon at the end of February, where I DID qualify for Boston. But, as many of you know, 34 seconds under the Continue Reading

I'm in the final stretch for the London Marathon! So ready for a vacation... Here's how training went this week: Monday: I didn't get up for my morning run and then I was stuck at work until about 7:45 (<-- that is why I run in the morning!) I changed at work and zipped over towards Minnehaha Parkway to start my workout: 2 mile warm-up, 4 miles at a tempo pace of 7:40 and 2 mile Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Two Weeks until London!

It allows me to see patterns that are working or not working while keeping me accountable. Time to get caught up! Monday: Tempo workout after work: 2 mile warm-up, 4 miles at tempo pace of 7:45, 1 mile cool-down. 7 miles total. Tuesday: 5.5 mile recovery Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Three Weeks Until the London Marathon!
Three weeks until the London Marathon! This will be my 3rd international marathon (Berlin, Tokyo, now London), my 4th World Major (Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago, London) and my 22nd marathon overall! I'm even more excited as my running is starting to feel back to normal. It definitely has not been as intense as it was for the Phoenix Marathon, but at least I'm training again. My new goal for the Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: The London Marathon is Drawing Near!
I'm getting really excited for the London Marathon! We are sorting through the rest of our plans too, which include a short tour of Scotland. Can't wait! As for training for the London Marathon? I wouldn't say I'm quite as excited about how that's going....read on to understand. Monday: I ran with the Calhoun Beach Running Club after work. It was my first workout since Phoenix, which Continue Reading
