Fitting Remarks: How to Talk to Runners: Advice From a Non-Runner

May 28, 2019 By Jessie Benson 12 Comments

This is an old post that I'm re-sharing again for your enjoyment! It's a guest post from a friend of mine who would like to remain anonymous. The opinions expressed in this post do not reflect the opinions of the Right Fits…enjoy!) Let’s be out with it; talking with runners can be difficult. At one point, everyone’s had it happen to them. You have a friend that’s a runner. Then you have another Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: 10 Things I’ve Learned So Far From a Broken Leg

March 26, 2018 By Jessie Benson 29 Comments

On February 17th, I slipped on the ice during a 20 mile long run and broke my tibia and fibula in multiple places. I had surgery a week later, with screws and plates implanted to hold it all together. This all happened three weeks before my husband and I were supposed to embark on a two-week trip to Antarctica, where I would have completed my 30th marathon, the Antarctica Marathon. So, Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: Running Through 2017

January 1, 2018 By Jessie Benson 15 Comments

Throughout the year, I consistently shared my weekly recaps of training. But it's also fun at the end of a year to reflect on the year as a 'whole.' So much more happened than I realized: four full marathons, many shorter races from 1 mile and up, lots of travel and adventure; quite a year! So I figured I would share a YEAR recap; I hope you enjoy this long (and a bit self-indulgent) post, Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: Training for the New York City Marathon

October 26, 2017 By Jessie Benson 6 Comments

As I approach the final few days of training/tapering for the New York City Marathon, I thought it would be fun to look back on the training, week by week. I started "training" for the NYC marathon 18 weeks out, which was 2 weeks after I paced my sister Erin at Grandma's Marathon (if you missed that post, read it here! Oh, how I love pacing friends and family!) 18 weeks- This week Continue Reading

Fitting Remarks: Tips for the Marathon Taper

June 13, 2017 By Jessie Benson 2 Comments

(With Grandma's Marathon this weekend, I thought it was a good idea to re-visit an older post about the taper!) The taper: that magical place when you sit back and enjoy all this extra free time and relish in all your hard work over the past 18 weeks… You're probably thinking, "Magical? No way. The taper sucks!" Why does the taper suck? You start second guessing all of your Continue Reading

Best reunion ever! I've been so, so worried, but t Best reunion ever! I've been so, so worried, but these girls were such troopers through a 4-day delay in Chicago when it was too hot for them to fly, to a 7-hour flight from Chicago to Amsterdam, 5 hours getting through customs, followed by a 9 hour van transport (via the eurotunnel) to London to be reunited with us. ❤️ So much happiness in my heart to be together again.

Ruth and Matilda have been dying to share some exc Ruth and Matilda have been dying to share some exciting news- we are moving to London!

- Dustin was offered a really great opportunity through the same company to take on a new role in London.
- My company approved a transfer for me to our London office- same job for me (fun new office location!)
- I’ll be localized, Dustin will be an expat.
- The move has been in the works for awhile, but UK immigration was slow with visa processing due to Covid, staffing shortages, the Ukrainian war refugee crisis, etc. but we now have our visas so things are moving quickly- tentative move date is July 7!
- Though the delay was frustrating at first, I think it was meant to be, as it allowed me to be in the US for my mom’s last days and then her funeral. 😕
- We will be renting a flat in the city of London. Visitors welcome!
- Ruth & Matilda are coming with. We wouldn’t go if they couldn’t join! Happy to share details on how they are getting there, but Dustin’s firm set up us with an amazing agency that handles it all, @worldcarepet
- Some good friends are hosting a goodbye party/open house on June 25th. Text me for details, I’d love to see you before we leave. All are invited! 🇬🇧
