Come along while I train for my 48th marathon, the Dingle marathon in Dingle, Ireland on September 6th!
Here’s how training (and life in London) went this past week:
Monday: Fartlek workout, 7 miles total
I tested out the Bandit Stamina top; it is very supportive and has multiple pockets (big enough to fit a phone!) 5 stars!
Tuesday: Rest from running, personal training session at Nordic Balance. Great session! Enjoying the personal training so far.
That evening, met up with some friends to see a play about the “Wagatha Christie” drama between Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy. It’s a wild story that wasn’t covered much in the US, but I’ve caught up via documentaries about it. Crazy!
Wednesday: Easy 7 mile run with friends before work for Global Running Day! Celebrating my favourite hobby.
In fact, I ended up joining an office 5k over lunch to keep the celebration going! Super easy pace.
Heartcore pilates after work. Triple workout day…
Thursday: Second “session” of the week, 2 x 15 minutes at marathon effort. 7 miles total. Not great, but not terrible. Strength session at home after work.
Friday: 6.5 mile easy run, sports massage over lunch, still fit in a full day of work.
Saturday: 14 mile long run, easy pace. Longest long run since Paris! Great group of Mornington Chasers.
Dustin had been in Minnesota for the week (getting our house ready to put on the market.) He returned Saturday, which was lovely. Ruth and I missed him! He was pretty jet lagged, so we had a low-key Saturday night.
Sunday: 7.5 mile run with Ruth and Dustin followed by Pilates at Heartcore.
Summary: 52 miles of running, 1 personal training session, 2 pilates classes, 1 strength session at home
It’s going to be a busy week ahead- Beyonce on Tuesday at Tottenham stadium, and then my mother-in-law arrives for a week-long visit; her first time visiting us since we moved here about 3 years ago! (Not her first time in London though.)
That’s a wrap! I’m linking up with Running on the Fly and Confessions of a Mother Runner; check out their blogs to connect with other fitness bloggers for workout ideas and inspiration!
I wondered if you’d eventually sell your house here in the states. I hope you have a wonderful time with Dustin’s mom during her visit!
It was a tough decision, but with the extension of our time here, it just doesn’t make sense to keep it any more.
I bet it felt great to get back to your longer runs again. Beyoncé sounds fun! Have a great week
Thanks Deb!
A lovely week of running! Are you staying longer then? I might even get to meet you, you never know!
Our initial three years is up, but we extended our visa.
So you’re selling your house! Do you know how long you’ll stay in London? Obviously you’re really liking it there.
Nice week of running! I’m guessing your injury is all healed up since you didn’t mention it. You even did a double on Global Running Day. Enjoy your week- it sounds super fun and busy.
yep, selling our house. Dustin’s company extended his time here so it no longer makes sense to keep it. Its a big decision, but the right one- if/when we moved back, I don’t know where we would be going to.
Selling your house is a big step (and probably a tad bit stressfu, given you’re not in the US). I hope it goes well!l
Yes, a bit stressful! Still have some things to do.
I’m glad to hear you’re back to longer runs! Is your ankle back to normal now?
And I agree with others – selling your house is a big decision. But you’ve been in the UK quite a while now!
Yep, nearly three years!
Oh, selling your US house is a big deal! I hope it all goes smooth and sells quick. You have had such a great time in Europe. I love seeing all of the things you do! Good luck on the upcoming week. I’m sure it’s fun hosting people but maybe a bit tiring by the end of the visit? Luckily no one ever comes to visit my house in Toledo. ha! Yay on that longest run after Paris. I was just wondering how everything was feeling for you. Sounds like it’s good?
Still some occasional tightness that I’m working hard to stay on top of!
yes, selling our house is a big step.
Well, it looks like you are settled in the UK! I don’t blame you for staying. Not at all. I’m so happy you’ve found a home there and a great running group!!
Yes…things are not all that appealing in the US at the moment politically…not that the UK is perfect though!
Omg you’re selling your house!! That’s so exciting – big news, indeed! So London’s calling, huh? (Bad joke, I know) Enjoy your visit with Dustin’s mom!
Thanks Melissa! Ha, yes, London calling!
Wagatha Christie……..crazy tales from true life!
How did I miss it originally? That kind of drama is right up my alley! Fortunately I was able to catch up via all the documentaries prior to seeing it as a play!
Taking notes: let husband manage house sale preparation! Excellent!
Looks like a wonderful week! I’m going to look into that story… this girl loves some rabbit holes of interesting stories.
Haha. well, it was dry walling, yard work, fixing a leak, things I didn’t add much value for! I’ll be going back when it sells to sort out some things.
