Last weekend, I did my first Ragnar relay. It wasn’t the traditional road Ragnar, which consists of a team of 12 runners (or 6 for an ultra team) and about 200 miles of running, with vans following each group. Instead, mine was a trail Ragnar, consisting of an 8 person team (or 4 for an ultra) and about 120 miles of trail running. No van; camping instead! This version appealed to me Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Easing Back into Running…
After last week's little health scare (if you missed it, I fainted in the shower and took quite a fall), I had to take it easy for a few days- doctor's orders. I'm also dealing with some new (unrelated to the fall) aches and pains in my left leg; I'll definitely be going to Orthology this week for some soft tissue work. With that said, I still was able to run & workout a bit this week, but Continue Reading

Guest Post: My First Ultramarathon by Cresta
I have a guest post for you from my oldest sister Cresta. She ran cross country in high school, but took time away from it for medical school, three daughters, and then a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine. It was within the past 3-4 years that she came back to running and has accomplished quite a bit in that short time. She finished two full marathons and now, her first ULTRA-marathon, a 50k! Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: The Night Light Trail Run 10k
Last Friday night, I ran the Night Light Trail Run 10k at Battle Creek Park in St. Paul. There was a half-marathon and a 5k in addition to the 10k. You might remember when I ran this race last year, two of my friends got engaged (read all about it here!) They actually met at the same trail run the year before the engagement. This year, part of their wedding weekend festivities included the same Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: The Greenland Trail 25k (and 50k) in Larkspur, CO
Dustin survived his first "ultra!" I tagged along and survived my first trail run (25k) at altitude. The word "ultra" marathon is such a broad term. I guess it means anything longer than 26.2 miles and most "ultras" are trail races. It seems that in the "ultra" world, the 50k distance is just a "beginner" race into the world of ultra long distance, with 50 and 100 milers being quite popular. Continue Reading
