Another week of training in the books! I would say it was mostly a successful week. Lots of miles left me very tired each day though, that's for sure. I took naps on both Saturday and Sunday. I'm trying to ensure I'm getting the rest my body needs (which seems to be a lot of rest, ha!) Here's how my training worked out this past week: Monday: My coach's notorious 15-10-10-5 workout. Friday Five Favorites: Reasons to Love the Track!
Today's Friday Five Favorites is all about the TRACK. Marathon training is about endurance, but speed training is still an important component of a successful plan. Historically, I have usually done my workouts on the same trails on which I do my long runs. But more recently, I have headed to a local track for my shorter speed sessions. And guess what- I'm loving it! There are so many Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Run, Work, Run!
I swear this week consisted of two things- running and working. Not a lot of free time. I ran over 60 miles and I worked over 60 hours. I'm sure there are several of you who regularly work more than 60 hours/week, but this is not the norm for me. Except at certain times, i.e. it's always busy at quarter end. Woe is me, right? Stop complaining! ...But it did make training more Continue Reading

Weekly Recap: A Hot Mess…
This past week was a bit of a bust...Every training cycle has its highs and lows. I'd classify this past week as a "low." I didn't have any runs where I felt strong and my paces were so far off of where they should be. I know that it was the heat and humidity; of course it was...But it was still hard. I still love running...I just am feeling a little disheartened with my runs this Continue Reading
Friday Five Favorites: Post-Long Run Brunch Spots in Minneapolis
I love to go out to brunch after a long run. It's the best, right? Take a quick shower, throw on some casual clothes, and refuel! I'll be honest that I'm not always all that picky; pancakes, eggs, omelets, waffles- I love it all. (I just don't want to have to wait for a long time as I'm usually pretty "rungry" by that time, amiright?) So even though I'm not super picky, there are still Continue Reading
