Guest Post: My First Ultramarathon by Cresta

November 2, 2015 By Jessie Benson 6 Comments

I have a guest post for you from my oldest sister Cresta. She ran cross country in high school, but took time away from it for medical school, three daughters, and then a fellowship in maternal fetal medicine. It was within the past 3-4 years that she came back to running and has accomplished quite a bit in that short time. She finished two full marathons and now, her first ULTRA-marathon, a 50k! Continue Reading

Minnesuing Acres Women’s Running Retreat Recap: Part 1

October 24, 2015 By Jessie Benson 6 Comments

I had a great experience at the Minnesuing Acres Women's Running Retreat that I attended last weekend. I had never attended a running retreat, but I definitely will be doing more in the future if I can! My sister Erin and I registered for the day camp only, which was $295. The full weekend camp (Friday through Sunday) was $745. The full weekend option included your stay at the beautiful Continue Reading

Fits Do Race Reviews: The Night Light Trail Run 10k

October 13, 2015 By Jessie Benson 1 Comment

Last Friday night, I ran the Night Light Trail Run 10k at Battle Creek Park in St. Paul. There was a half-marathon and a 5k in addition to the 10k. You might remember when I ran this race last year, two of my friends got engaged (read all about it here!) They actually met at the same trail run the year before the engagement. This year, part of their wedding weekend festivities included the same Continue Reading

Fits Do Race Reviews: The Imogene Pass Run

September 14, 2015 By Jessie Benson 30 Comments

Last Saturday, I “ran” the Imogene Pass Run and it was intense. I put the word “ran” in quotations because no one except the elite runners at this race actually run the whole thing. The majority of participants hike a significant portion of this run. The Imogene Pass Run is a 17.1 mile race from Ouray, CO to Telluride, CO over the Imogene Pass. It climbs from 7,700 feet at the start line in Continue Reading

Training for the Anthem Richmond Marathon

August 11, 2015 By Jessie Benson 1 Comment

Another week of marathon training in the books. Lots of running this week...and lots of cabin time! Monday: Easy 5 miles in the morning with a few run club friends Tuesday: Easy 5 miles in the morning with Matilda the vizsla, then the Endless Summer Trail Run at Hyland Park.  This was a 7 mile trail race (which ended up being more like 7.5 miles- trail races are always “approximate!”). I did Continue Reading

Fits Do Race Reviews: Hyland 7 Miler: The Endless Summer Trail Run Series

August 16, 2014 By Jessie Benson 2 Comments

Last Tuesday night, I ran the last trail run of the Endless Summer Trail Run Series (not so endless after all, eh?) This summer, I ran the French 5k and the Lebanon Jensen 10k. I missed the Lebanon Schulze 7 mile, and now did the Hyland 7 miler this week. I wish I would have been able to participate in all 4 of the races in the series, but 3 out of 4 isn't bad. At each race, you get a Continue Reading

This is my blog about finding The Right "Fit." I'm an avid runner, marathon enthusiast, and fitness experimentalist who uses my little space of the internet to share my passion for and experiences with running and fitness (...and a little about fashion.)
