The Non-Antarctica Parts of our Trip to Antarctica (i.e. Argentina & Uruguay!)

March 31, 2019 By Jessie Benson 16 Comments

I recapped the Antarctica Marathon in THIS POST. It was the most challenging marathon I have ever done. Check out all the gory details there! Now, I'd like to share a recap of the rest of the trip, which, to quote my friend Phil from the Cayman Islands (who took the same trip a few years ago), was a "belter of a trip." A "belter" of a trip for sure! I know most of you want to see more pictures Continue Reading

October 19, 2018 By Jessie Benson 15 Comments

Hi there! I'm here to share the details of a recent trip Dustin and I took to Scandinavia. We'll call this Part 1: Copenhagen and Gothenburg! (<-- pronounced by locals as "yö-te-boh-ry!" Not what you'd expect!) Friday, October 12: We flew from Minneapolis to Chicago to Copenhagen. I'm sorry, but O'Hare is my least favorite airport for transferring from domestic to international Continue Reading

Weekly Recap: 14 Weeks Until the Houston Marathon

October 15, 2018 By Jessie Benson 16 Comments

Late again with my weekly recap! But I have a legitimate excuse; I'm on vacation in Denmark/Sweden/Norway! I'll definitely share more on the trip, but let me just recap this past week in training for the Houston Marathon- only 14 weeks to go! Monday: 7.81 miles, 9:35 min/mile pace. It was so hard to get up early after such a fun weekend with my sister Erin and her friend Jen, who were in Continue Reading

October 12, 2018 By Jessie Benson 6 Comments

I love to use this space of the internet to share details about trips we take, to share with you all but also as journal of sorts to document it all! I have also found it helpful when a friend asks for advice on a destination to be able to just direct them to a post like this as a reference. So even though our trip to Georgia was a few weeks ago, I still am pushing publish on this post to share Continue Reading

I quickly went online afterwards & registered for next year’s race 🤣 even though I don’t know how it will fit into marathon plans or other travel plans 🤷‍♀️…I ran it 4 weeks after Vienna for fun and fun it definitely was! 🎉🏃‍♀️🇬🇧 I actually don’t remember the last half I ran and this one was HUGE- 24,000 runners! But it didn’t feel too congested and was well supported- so many enthusiastic spectators! #hackneyhalfmarathon #hackneyhalf @hackneymoves #halfmarathon #londonrunner #instarunner #longrun

Vienna City Marathon 2023, marathon #41! It was a Vienna City Marathon 2023, marathon #41! It was a challenging one for me, the heat/sun (though not as sunburned as Boston 2022!), tummy troubles, painful side stitches (which can be from over OR under hydrating?) . But I’m proud of myself for sticking with it for the full 42km. The support was great, pretty flat course, LOVED that they played Blue Danube Waltz at the start line 🎼

Love for the marathon still strong 🏅🇦🇹❤️ Next up, Marathon du Médoc (def just for fun) and then Dublin!

Though our “skip the line” tour to the top of the Eiffel Tower was cancelled due to the strikes, we still saw a lot on a Seine river cruise & walk the first evening, and then Versailles and Montmartre the next day. I’ve been to Paris a few times before but it was fun to experience it again with my family!
