Two weeks until my 34th marathon, 23rd state, and first marathon of 2020! In terms of a goal for Atlanta, I think I'll aim for something around 4 hours. I won't be racing Atlanta (as I did Indianapolis, my last marathon.) I've done plenty of miles (hit 70 last week!) but the workouts and the focus has not been on a PR, but rather just to finish 26.2 with a smile. I know that Atlanta is a Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: Four Weeks Until the Indianapolis Marathon
The theme of this week was definitely run commuting! Every one of my weekday runs was a run commute. I've mentioned it before, but the only reason it works so well for me is because my husband works in the same building as me in downtown Minneapolis. I am able to stash all my stuff (work clothes, work bag/laptop) in his car the night before. Then I don't have to carry anything while running. I Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: The 2019 Antarctica Marathon
On Sunday, March 17th, I completed my 31st full marathon, the Antarctica Marathon. It was also my fourth continent in my quest to run a marathon on all seven continents, and the second marathon I have run since I broke my tibia/fibula in February of 2018. I feel like I have so much to write about with regards to this once-in-a-lifetime trip to the "last continent," but I thought it would be Continue Reading
Fits Do Race Reviews: The 2019 Chevron Houston Marathon
On Sunday, January 20, 2019, I ran my 30th marathon (and checked off my 20th state in my 50-state quest!) , which was the Chevron Houston Marathon in Houston, Texas. It was my first marathon after taking a year off of marathoning due to a broken tibia/fibula. After a long year of recovery, it was so great to be back at it. Here's my review and recap! Dustin and I arrived in Houston late on Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 1 Week Until the Houston Marathon
Happy Sunday! Here I am, one week before my 30th full marathon and first marathon since breaking my tibia/fibula on February 17, 2018. My goal for next Sunday's race is to have fun- no pressure on time, I want to remember to just be grateful to be running a marathon again, less than a year after the most traumatic injury of my life. After I broke my leg, I wasn't sure if I'd ever be able to Continue Reading
Thanksgiving and a Cutback Week
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope those of you that celebrate the holiday had a wonderful long weekend. (If you only check in here for the weekly recap, be sure to check out the final recap post of our recent trip to Norway: "Fits on the Road in Flåm and Oslo!") My holiday weekend coincided with a cutback week in mileage for training for the Houston Marathon (my 30th full at the end of January!) It Continue Reading
Weekly Recap: 9 Weeks Until the Houston Marathon
It's Sunday and weekly recap time! If you only check in on Sundays, be sure to read this review from earlier this week of the SPIBeam hat. It's a great product! I am nine weeks out from the Houston Marathon. Here's how training (and life!) went this past week: Monday: 9 miles on the treadmill in the evening. I had hoped to do this run before work, but without combining it into a run Continue Reading
